Is your house at risk of flooding from surface water during or following bad weather? If you live in West Somerset we can now offer help with advice and the supply of items which can prevent or significantly reduce the impact of flood water. Thanks to grant funding the items are heavily subsidised and in most cases only a small donation is required as a contribution to help with re-ordering. For more information visit our Community Page

Today is World Polio Day, a time to reflect on the incredible progress that has been made towards the eradication of the awful disease.
This morning some members of the club met to "Walk a Mile for Polio". It was a nice opportunity for some fellowship and to think about the work that still needs to be done to achieve the goal of completely defeating it. More photos on our Facebook Page #EndPolioNow #RotaryPeopleOfAction We were very grateful for the opportunity to visit Shepton Mallet Rotary Club to tell them about our proposed project, working with Rotary Club of Ndola Central and others, to arrange to send two containers of wheelchairs and other disability aids to the Copperbelt area in Zambia.
It is a project that will have a life changing impact for many many people, both children and adults. We are seeking support and pledges to raise sufficent funds to qualify for a Rotary Global Grant. We are happy to visit any clubs in Distrct 1200 that would be interested to find out more. Many thanks to all of the members for great hospitality and fellowship. #RotaryPeopleOfAction #TheMagicOfRotary #seekingsupport What better way to raise funds for Minehead & District Guide Dogs than to have a bracing run or a walk along our lovely seafront.
More information and a link to book can be found here: https://www.mineheadrotaryclub.co.uk/santa.html #supportguidedogs #havefun We were very pleased to be able to support Dan's amazing effort, which raised so much for Mind in Somerset. So many supporters!
#supportmentalhealthawareness We are excited to have received a great completion report about the refurbishment of a borehole in a village in Uganda!
This project came about following a visit and talk by Cate Whitewood of the Yeo Vale Rotary Club in 2023 and, vitally, with with the support and cooperation of Yeovil Rotary Club. See the full details on our International Theme Page by clicking here The Rotary Club of Minehead was pleased to be able to support the wonderful Minehead Bay Festival last weekend.
Some of our members assisted with marshalling and we had space to set up Gazebo HQ which we shared with our friends Minehead & District Lions Club. Lots of people stopped for a chat. We were featuring Water Suvival Boxes and our plans to offer assistance to households in West Somesret which are prone to flooding. The event was a roaring success and everyone is looking forward to next year's. Well done to all involved 👏🏼 👏🏼 👏🏼 Excellent photos courtesy of the Festival. Not long ago, in a building formerly know as County Stores, a number of Minehead Rotary Club members paid a visit to the County Classics Motor Museum.
It opened in 2023 and the visitors were amazed how many cars and motorbikes were on display in several rooms. The visit finished with a visit to the lovely cafe where there was another impressive array, of cakes 🍰 🍪 🧁 We had a very convivial meeting with some members of Taunton Vale Rotary Club at the Luttrell Arms in Dunster on Monday evening. The weather was perfect and the Boules area in the Luttrell Arms Secret Garden is a lovely setting for a sporting contest. There was a great turnout from both clubs! We have not been very successful in our skittles matches against Taunton Vale so our hopes for a better result with the shiny balls were high. Minehead did well in the first round and a premature glimmer of excitement developed, only for it to be dashed by Taunton's strong performance in the second round and their victory overall. No hard feelings!
Following an interesting talk to Rotary by Craig Goodwin, Butlins Resort Director, two members of the Rotary Club of Minehead were invited to attend the launch of the new Butlins Skypark Play area.
Rotarians Mollie Foster and John Baker, along with members of the Minehead Town Council, County Council and press were treated to a full tour of the 164 acre site. The new Skypark is suitable for children of all abilities and provides a safe and secure area for children to learn and play. Butlins is the Town's major tourist attraction and employer and Craig Goodwin is keen to foster good relationships with local groups and the Town and County Councils. Redcoats were on hand to show the guests around. #butlinsminehead #community The photo shows Mollie & John talking to two Redcoats |
