This page has set up to display the many images behind the long-running Disability Aids for Zambia project.
The structure of the page broadly follows the layout of a report/article written by Richard Robbins, President of Minehead Rotary Club in the 2025-2026 Rotary year.
You can download a copy of the Report by following this link.

Introduction

A family visit to Ndola and Itawa School. Seeing the Rotary logo at the theatre is what sparked the idea of a connection with a Rotary Club in Ndola.

PhysioNet visit and loading our container

Richard and Lorna visited the Physionet depot to discuss arrangements for our shipment. While we were there we helped with the loading of a container bound for the Gambia.
The photos here are from an earlier visit by Richard in February 2025.

Finally, a Minehead team joined the regular volunteers to load our container in September 2025

The equipment was released from customs and moved the the Rotary base, the Lowenthall Theatre,. From there the items would be picked up and distributed.

A WHEELCHAIR IS MORE THAN A CHAIR IT IS FREEDOM, DIGNITY AND HOPE - 2/10/26
This morning, the Rotary Club of Solwezi donated wheelchairs to members of the community and walking aids to Solwezi Urban Clinic, supporting individuals living with mobility challenges.
For someone facing mobility challenges, a wheelchair or walking aid can mean more than simply getting from one place to another, It can mean independence. It can mean being able to attend school, visit family, access healthcare, participate in the community and live with greater dignity. Through this initiative, Rotary Club of Solwezi continues to live out the spirit of “Service Above Self” and our commitment to Create Lasting Impact in the communities we serve.
We would like to say thank you for the partnership with   Rotary Club of Minehead UK and PhysioNet UK for assisting in this wonderful donation.
Together, we create lasting impact.

The photos here represent a small proportion the items that were shipped - it's not possible to capture all of the donations. Distribution is continuing and scores of smaller items, such as walking frames, walkers, sticks, crutches, commodes and  seats, will make a huge difference to the everyday live of the beneficiaries!

THANK YOU TO EVERYONE INVOLVED IN THIS PROJECT

Minehead Rotary Club has been active since 1937 and is part of Rotary International.
Rotary International has over 1.2 million members in 168 countries.
